9 Lives Program
The FMSPCA has a unique program to bring companionship to local seniors. Our 9 Lives program connects seniors who would like to have a pet with a senior adoptable feline. Through this program, all food and veterinary costs are provided, as well as regular check-ups to ensure everyone is enjoying the companionship. Pet companionship has a lot of benefits both for humans and pets in their golden years, and the FMSPCA is proud to offer a program, with the support of the RMWB, that respects our seniors, both two-legged and four.
Seniors for Seniors Pet Companionship Program
The 9 Lives Program was developed in 2017 and aims to provide companionship for local seniors in our region. We believe that, regardless of age, companion animals deserve compassion and a chance to live out their golden years in comfort. Pet companionship has a lot of benefits for both humans and pets in their golden years. The 9 Lives Program eliminates the financial burden of pet ownership by providing all medical care, food, and supplies for seniors enrolled in the program. We are proud to offer this program, in partnership with the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, Wood Buffalo Housing and St. Aidan’s Society.
Currently, there are 6 animals placed in the senior pet companionship program. If you know of someone interested in the program, please e-mail programs@fortmcmurrayspca.ca
