The Fort McMurray Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (FMSPCA) is a non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors (‘the Board’). Board members are elected on a staggered two-year term (i.e. half of the Board are elected on odd years and half on even years).
As the governing body, the FMSPCA Board is responsible for the overall direction of the FMSPCA as well as the effective and efficient operation of the Organization through its Executive Director. To this end, it is the responsibility of the Board to recruit potential new Board members and provide these members with a meaningful orientation of Board roles and functions.
