(Fort McMurray, June 10, 2019) The Fort McMurray SPCA (FMSPCA) in partnership with Winky Rides/Greb Glides hosted their 3rd Annual Winky Day fundraiser/friend-raiser on Saturday, June 8th, 2019. Celebrating local canine celebrity Winky, his predecessor Greb and their owner Sandy (Allan) MacDonald who have travelled over 100,000 miles raising money for our regions only local animal welfare agency. Local motor enthusiasts, vendors, community partners and residents across the region were invited up to the Fort McMurray SPCA to help raise much needed funds going towards the Winky Rides/Greb Glides Cause for Paws. All funds raised from the Cause for Paws Fund goes towards the care and support for companion animals who have been abused, abandoned, surrendered or are in need of shelter and a forever home.
The day featured a motorcycle ride with over 20 local motorcycle enthusiasts leading a ride to Anzac and back, cat and dog yoga at the shelter, over 16 local vendors, a BBQ put on by the Kinsmen Club of Fort McMurray, nail trims by donation, side car rides by donation, a dog ice cream eating contest and a dog musical sit contest. “Thank you to everyone who braved the cold weather to support the Cause for Paws, all those who volunteered or went the extra mile, there are too many to mention individually without missing someone. Thanks and paws up” says Sandy (Allan) MacDonald, Winky Rides/Greb Glides.

To date, Winky Rides/Greb Glides Cause for Paws fund has raised $116,878 for the Fort McMurray SPCA and all funds will be go towards the rehabilitation and care of present and future homeless animals in need.
